Durham Distillery Honoured at Gin Industry Annual Dinner
Durham Distillery's founder and owner, Jon Chadwick, was honoured at a ceremony in London on 26th of May 2016. Jon became Warden Rectifier of the Gin Guild, part of the Worshipful Company of Distillers.
The ceremony took place at the Gin Industry Annual Dinner at The Savile Club, Mayfair, London. Jessica Tomlinson, Durham Distillery’s Chief Distiller, was also honoured with the rank of Rectifier.
Jon started Durham Distillery 3 years ago, which has grown incredibly quickly as Gin has surged in popularity. At the time it was the first legal Distillery in the North East since the reign of Henry VIII (there had been plenty of bootleggers!). There are now a number of other distilleries following in Durham’s footsteps, and the region has a lively craft spirits scene. Durham Distillery can genuinely claim to have transformed the spirits industry in the North East of England.
“It is a great honour to be recognised by the Guild. We are proud to have put Durham on the Gin map!” -Jon Chadwick
“It is always good to be acknowledged by your peers in the industry.” -Jess Tomlinson
