We love Durham.  We created Durham Gin and Durham Distillery because we wanted to do something in the City that we love the most.   

Durham is England's most beautiful City, the most quintessential.  From the boats on the River, the cobbled streets, to the top of the Cathedral.  The perfect place to make artisanal Spirits.  

But it is not perfect.  Over the last few decades the City has had some hard times, none harder than the Miner's Strike. 

The City always had 2 parts to it's character.  One half was represented by the Cathedral and the University: world class intellects, ground breaking ideas, faith.   The other half was more down to earth; the Miners and the working class communities that surrounded it.

One half of that tradition has flourished, quite rightly, while the other half has struggled to find it's voice other than at the Miners Gala.
